Bye Bye Q&A Page and Guestbooks

Added On: May 22, 2006 - 01:26 AM General Maintenance Updates

I’m finally admitting defeat. The white flag has gone up in my battle against spam. First one to win is the guestbook spam. I just can’t beat them bots, and I’m tired of having to delete off hundreds (literally) of spam entries a day. They just keep coming and coming with different names and IP’s…and the worst part of it is some actually managed to insert malicious stuff in there too. Alas, I’m just going to have to say that Megabook is definitely a no go for a guestbook script and if malicious codes can be inserted, then I’m deleting it ASAP. I’m not going to subject my visitors to the risk of getting a virus just because they wanted to sign my guestbook. So for now, I’ve deleted individual guestbooks from the following sites…

Yep, all three guestbooks are now gone and offline. It makes me rather sad- especially because the Sesshoumaru site’s gbook had already accumulated almost 2,000 entries since its birth and now I have to kill it. The Owarinai Collective Guestbook had several hundreds of entries too. :( Still, there’s nothing I can do about it…so for now, all guestbooks will remain offline until I can find a better solution for them spam.

Guestbook spam aside, I’ve also had to deal with a different kind of spam…these are on the Question & Answer pages, both the one here and the one at The Killing Perfection. As opposed to bots, I’ve had to deal with actual human spam on these pages- so much so that I have absolutely no more desire to keep the Q&A’s around. Most notable of these spam are the ones found at the Sesshoumaru shrine, where some crazy fangirls/boys are using the Q&A page as means to chat with each other as if that page was their own personal messenging system.

No more, I say. I get enough spam via email…and I would much rather not deal with it on my sites too.

For me as a consumer all these rewards are very confusing. Everytime I look at a credit card deal I feel that there is some kind of a catch but I am not sure what it is. I feel more confident applying for a credit card online from websites that give you a list of different cards so I can compare every point. Lately I’ve been using

It turned out I was a victim of identity theft. After spending a great deal of time fixing the problem I became paranoid about using credit cards anywhere. It took me about half a year to get over it. Now if I need a credit card I go to

Credit cards are great if you can manage your money wisely. I always shop around for credit cards. I’ve figured out that official bank sites are not really helpful because you can’t compare there offers with those of other banks. So now I use
